Underwater buffet? What a setting. Imagine dining surrounded by a 3 story aquarium. That's what you get at the Pacific Beach Hotel. But the food is also actually really good, what a surprise! The "Dining Beneath the Sea Buffet" has been around for awhile. I decided to finally give it a try on a Thursday night when the main feature is King Crab legs. Well I wish I had not waited so long. The buffet was constantly replenished and the crab just kept on coming. All the food was very fresh and well made. This is certainly worth the $34.00 price tag. Go back as many times as you want. It is a good idea to make a reservation especially on Thursday night. On Sunday the special item is roast suckling pig and there is a brunch buffet on weekends. Pacific Beach Hotel, 2490 Kalakaua Avenue, 808 921-6111.
Best Chinese food in Honolulu? Maybe and also fresh seafood and Peking duck. Try Beijing Chinese Seafood Restaurant in the Royal Hawaiin shopping center. The restaurant is very clean and hidden away on the second floor o9f the shopping center. After avoiding the crowds waiting in line for the Cheesecake Factory outside, the quiet sophistication of Beijing is a welcome relief. All fresh seafood specialties are worth trying. DimSum lunch is served daily. A bit pricey but worth it! 2301 Kalakaua Avenue C311-C, 808 971-8833.
